Create An Oasis for Your Anus!

People often ask for some "quick" universal tips for pelvic health and honestly all my tips start with the anus, more specifically with pooping.
Pushing and straining to poop can put a lot of pressure on the poor pelvic floor and that is a problem. Constipation can be due to pelvic floor dysfunction, but a lot of times chronic constipation and bowel dysfunction can be a cause of pelvic floor issues.
Over wiping with toilet paper or fragrance filled wipes? Also a problem.
So I strongly recommend creating an oasis for your anus!
First, consider getting a little step stool or something like the squatty potty. Creating a squat like position for bowel movements is how we as humans were designed to defecate. It helps relax the pelvic floor muscles making it easier for things to just slide on out.
I also recommend investing in a bidet. There are a lot of cost friendly options on the market and they are easy to install. You can also get a little squirt bottle filled with water. This is something I strongly recommend for postpartum people, but everyone can benefit. Toilet paper can be irritating, especially if you have hemorrhoids or fissures.
Wipes may seem like a good alternative, but if they have perfumes or fragrances that can be irritating as well! Not only to the anus but the vulva as well. Unscented wipes or plain toilet paper are better options.
So, consider giving your butt some TLC and create a little retreat for your rectum! Your anus and your pelvic floor will thank you!
